祖国南海,碧波万顷,美丽富饶。面积大约360多万平方公里,相当于16个广东省那么大。在这辽阔的海域内,蕴藏着丰富的渔业资源。建国以来,我国对南海北部进行了多次渔业资源考察,对200米水深以内的渔业资源有了基本认识。但是,在辽阔的深海水域,有没有值得开发利用的渔业资源呢?为了揭开这个谜,中国水产科学研究院南海水产研究所组织了一支年富力强的科研队伍,派出我国第一艘现代化的多学科的水产科学考察船南锋704号,对南海北部深海进行了渔业资源综合考察。几年来,他们克服了重重困难,取得了累累硕果。
