The wiring industry is in the midst of controversy in defining Category 6 standards and many ideas for cables and connecting hardware emerge at this stage and various recommendations have been made for the TIA TR42.7 Chapter Committee (formerly TIA TR Part of 41.8) research. One of the most important transmission parameters for Category 6 cables is cable attenuation. More precisely, it should be called insertion loss. Because by definition it includes the effect of impedance mismatch. Most people in the industry improperly use the term attenuation to denote insertion loss. TIA TR 42.7 copper cabling system
