The authors studied surgical specimens of colorectal cancer and found that the form of mucus secreted on the surface of the “normal” mucosal region is abnormal. The goblet cells mainly produce sialomu-cins, whereas the truly normal colonic mucosa mainly produces thio-mucin ( Sulphomucins). In rats, colorectal cancer was induced by dimethylhydrazine (D) methylhydrazine (DMH). A series of histological abnormalities and secretion abnormalities were observed during the carcinogenesis of the colonic epithelium and compared with similar human lesions. Large application of DMH
