2014年12月28日,由中国美术家协会、中国工笔画协会指导,厦门市文化广电新闻出版局主办,厦门市美术馆承办的“多重空间——2014厦门全国工笔画双年展”在厦门市美术馆开幕。中国工笔画学会副会长谢振瓯等人出席了开幕式。本届厦门全国工笔画双年展在2012厦门全国工笔画双年展成功举办的基础上,从提升学术、创新模式、拓展影响出发,引进了策展人机制。担任本届双年展策展人的是中国美术家协会理事、《美术》杂志主编尚辉,此次他为主办方提名国内36位眼光独到、风格独特的工笔画家参展,
