随着祖国社会主义建設的连续大跃进,第二个五年計划提前三年完成了。科学文化事业也正向着高精尖发展。不久的将来,我国将实現全盘电气化、自动化,原子能也将作为动力。現代数学理論如非线性常微分方程、偏微分方程、复变函数理論和概率理論等也已广泛地被科用。然而,現行中学数学教育是不能适应这种要求的,因为它的內容是十六、十七世紀以前的东西。总路綫要求我們多快好省地培养又紅又专的建设人材,显然,如果继续按旧系統来进行培养,是远远不能适应現代化生产和科学技术发展的需要的。这与总路线精神是不相符合的,是与广大工农羣众迫切需要掌握現代化生产所必須具有的基本工具——数学——的愿望相违背的。因此,数学必須来个彻底的、根本性的改革。大破以前的旧系統,重新建立起符合社会主义建设需要的、符合現代化生产和尖端科学技术发展的嶄新的完整的中学数学教材系统。
With the continuous leap forward in the socialist construction of the motherland, the second five-year plan was completed three years in advance. Scientific and cultural undertakings are also moving toward high precision. In the near future, China will realize full-scale electrification and automation, and atomic energy will also be the driving force. Modern mathematical theories such as nonlinear ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, complex variable function theory, and probability theory have also been widely used. However, the current high school mathematics education cannot adapt to this requirement because its content is something before the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The general route requires us to cultivate red and specialized talents more quickly and economically. Obviously, if we continue to train with the old system, it is far from meeting the needs of modern production and the development of science and technology. This is inconsistent with the spirit of the general line and is contrary to the desire of the majority of workers and peasants to urgently master the basic tool that must be possessed by modern production, mathematics. Therefore, mathematics must come to a thorough and fundamental reform. The old system was broken and the new complete middle school mathematics teaching system that meets the needs of socialist construction and meets the needs of modern production and cutting-edge science and technology was rebuilt.
