Zhang Xiaofeng, a professor at Yangming University in Taiwan, said in 2007 that in Taiwan, “China” has become an unspeakable “dirty word.” She said it would be absurd and stupid for Taiwanese society to abandon Chinese simply because of political factors. She had an article a few days ago about the Chinese concept of the moon, but the publisher who prepared the book said that it would be a little cumbersome to ask her to change “Chinese” into “ancients.” There was another time when she wanted to open a class entitled “Life Circumstances in Chinese Poetry”, but also because the school felt that the word “China” was not conducive to students’ recognition of Taiwan. The class name had to be changed according to the idea of “going to China” “Classical poetry ”. Taiwan also suppressed the “Chinese (language)” class at the time of the DPP administration and deleted classical Chinese, resulting in a decline in the Chinese proficiency of middle school students. “Taiwan’s ancestors” were written as “inferior ancestors.” Hefei Peng, general manager of Taiwan’s City-state Publishing Group, said: "Chinese education is swaggering. It is a young child who is struggling to find a way to rescue Chinese.
