The term “hepatorenal syndrome” is traditionally used for kidney failure caused by hepatobiliary disease. The pathogenesis of renal failure is still debated, arguing that the following factors can be attributed, including hypoxia, endotoxin, microvascular thrombosis, hemostatic abnormalities, often associated with kidney and liver failure.
