Recently, China also discovered two new dinosaur fossils, the long-feathered dinosaurs. These fossils make up for the controversy over whether birds and dinosaurs evolved from a common ancestor. The conclusion now is: Birds and dinosaurs do have a common ancestor. These fossils also make it clear that in the course of evolution, the appearance of feathers was earlier than that of animal flight and earlier than that of modern bird species. The research team, composed of a multinational scientist, described the fossils in Nature on June 25, 1998. Members of the research team are Dr. Ji Qiang, China Geological Museum and Ji Shu’an, Phillip Curie, Royal Tiberian Paleontological Museum, Canada
