山东省国民经济和科学技术发展较快，实验动物和动物实验工作近６年也随之有了较大进步，客观上对实验动物的品种品系、质量和等级的要求也越来越高。目前，全省饲育、应用实验动物的单位５００多家，从事实验动物工作者有６００余人，其中专业技术人员占２０％，生产应用的动物主要有：昆明小鼠、Ｗｉｓｔａｒ大鼠、豚鼠、新西兰兔、日本大耳白兔、犬、猫、猴和ＳＰＦ鸡。每年动物用量３０万只左右。ＳＰＦ鸡蛋每年生产１２０万枚，其中１５％～２０％供应本省，其余销往外省与外国；动物应用等级为：普通级占８０％，清洁级与ＳＰＦ级占２０％；动物饲料每年用量５００吨左右；发放条件设施合格证５４份，发放动物质量合格证６３份。实验动物和动物实验工作已逐步走上规范化、法制化的科学管理轨道。

Experimental animal and animal experiment work has gradually taken a standardized and legalized scientific management track.
