Objective:To introduce the experience in treating calcaneal fracture malunion with ostectomy and subtalar joint salvage and discuss its indications and evaluation.Method:Between November 1998 and may 2003,24 patients(26 sides) with calcaneal malunion were treated by calcaneal ostectomy and subtalar joint salvage.13 sides were type Ⅱ according to Sanders classification(typeⅡb 9 siades,typeⅡ c 4 sides),13 sides were typeⅢ(typeⅢac 8 sides,typeⅢab 5 sides).The modified lateral calcaneal "L"approach were choosed.The bone defect in calcaneous were infilled with autograft,among them iliac bone graft were used in 19 sides,and only the lateral calcaneal wall bulge were used in 7 sides.
