The FloTrac system-should I use it? How and where should I use it?Currently there are number of noninvasive methods that can help us determine CO in different settings.FLOTRAC/VIGILEO (FTV) (Edwards Lifescience Corp, Irvine, CA) is a pulse contour analysis based device that measures cardiac output (CO) from a standard arterial catheter.It is more widely used compared to any other device and is gaining popularity in numerous clinical situations.The technology is promising and has been studied extensively.We will learn about recent important studies, compare other devices and methods and discuss risks, benefits and alternatives to this technology.
