The small heat shock protein 22 (HSP22) containing the characteristic a-crystallin domain not only has a molecular chaperone activity, but involves in protection against heat stress, oxidative stress, apoptosis, cell proliferation and longevity.In this study, the polymorphism in exon region of HSP22 gene from Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri (CfHSP22) was investigated to explore their association with susceptibility/resistance to high temperature.Three sites of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified in the exon region of CfHSP22, and among them, only +94 C-A locus was nonsynonymous mutation.Three genotypes (A/A, A/C and C/C) were found at locus +94 using Bi-PASA PCR analysis, and their frequency was then detected in two group of scallop stocks.
