Survival of repeatedly discarded saucer scallops was estimated for the Shark Bay trawl fisheries using short-term tag-recapture experiments under various fishing and environmental conditions.Scallops were externally tagged and released on the first night of the experiment with re-sampling on the following 3 to 4 nights. This provided a 24-hr recovery period prior to repeat trawling.Recaptured scallops were released onto the experimental grounds to simulate cumulative effects of repeated discarding.
