Background, Motivation and Objective Drug addiction is a chronic disease of brain, which has a trend to recur. Animal experiments showed that gliacyte derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) had an ideal therapeutic efficacy for drug addiction, but the clinical application of GDNF was limited because of its deficincy permeability in Blood Brain Barrier(BBB). Low frequency focused ultrasound combine with microbubble can produce an non-invasive targeted BBB opening locally. To demonstrate MBs that bind GDNF combined with MRI-guided focused ultrasound may be an effective way of delivering neurotrophic factors directly into the CNS. The method described herein provides a potential means of treating patients with CNS diseases.
