　　The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of chronic hyperammonemia and chronic liver failure on the function and expression of P-gp at the BBB.The model of chronic hyperammonemia was induced by feeding rats an ammonium-containing diet for 3 weeks (ammonium-containing diets were prepared by mixing control diets with ammonium acetate (NH4Ac, 20% by mass)).Chronic liver failure was induced by common bile duct ligation (BDL) for 3 weeks.Meanwhile, BDL+HA groups were given an ammonium containing diet for 1 week at 2 weeks after surgery of BDL.The function of P-gp was evaluated using brain distribution in vivo of corresponding typical substrate.
