The lecture will demonstrate the collaboration and motivation of the interdisciplinary team members in making a dream come true and redefining the notion of successful palliative treatment. Our presentation is based on the case history of E.M., a 37-year-old with far-advanced Popliteal Mixoid Liposarcoma and Metastases to thigh, pelvis and liver.Even extremely high doses of oral, subcutaneous, and epidural morphine could not control the excruciating pain in his gangrenous left lower limb.E.Ms desire to fulfill his dream of marring and having a family of his own led to many consultations of the interdisciplinary team of our hospice as well as the multidisciplinary team of our hospital, and he successfully underwent amputation, then married. This illustrates how the concentrated efforts of the team, the patients will and the support of his fiancée, family and friends helped overcome the physical and emotional barriers of the disease and offer a moment of joy, a memory for his family, and a new level of professional and personal satisfaction for the team members.
