For most design projects,the basic design process is architecture programming,program design,the construction design,and the designers believed that project has ended after building acceptance.Many designers focus on the design pattern in the actual construction projects,but few of them came back to the scene to see whether the completion building meet the actual needs of user,the same is true of architectural department hall design.As the development and evolution of architecture education,contemporary design of architectural department hall should pay full attention to creating a communication space,and strengthening the possibility of interdisciplinary development in it,which is the requirements and challenges of presents architectural department hall.According to this,this article studies how the students use the architectural department hall of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KMUST).By observing and analyzing the behavior of students in it,analysis the composite function,behavior patterns,space use evaluation,make the evaluation and diagnosis with "Diagnostic " POE method,andidentify its problems and defects in use.Firstly,implement participant observation to get a preliminary impressions of the building,summarized the entire building space for several types such as overall environment,teaching space,nonfunctional ambiguity space and the affiliated space.Design open questionnaire to find out what issues the users concerned,according to the results of the open questionnaire design structured questionnaire.Secondly,choose different methods of POE for different types of space research.Cognitive map for the overall environment;semantic difference questionnaires for teaching space;intermittently photography sampling,behavior check list and behavior map for non-functional ambiguity space;free interview for affiliated space.And suggest several countermeasures to meet the need of peopleperception on built building,finally make recommendations to the adaptive design of this building.At last,study the epitaxial exploration of POE which includes two aspects,one is architecture programming and space pre-evaluation,the other is the universal design and adjustment framework.Research purposes is to construct a set of implementation of the framework of the universal design approach,provide a reference for future rational design of the architectural department hall.
