As considerable number of colleges building their own new campus,the landscape planning of college campus becomes increasingly important.Specifically,the modern campus drastically differs from the old campus,considering both the detail designing of teaching,social,and living space,and the campus planning methods and models.It is a necessary issue for every campus designer to provide the community with comfortable study and living environment.The small garden space mainly includes the surrounding greens of buildings or alongside the roads,the lawns,the flower beds,small gardens,and etc.Though many enough,only relatively small proportion of these spaces are utilized.Two main facts contribute to that: there are not many carefully planned and designed outside space,if there are,those are located in the small gardens in teaching area;the lawns for landscape take the major part of greens on the campus,which prevents students from really engage into the space,as an old Chinese sayings reads "It is only for appreciating,and never for entertaining".This paper thereby focuses on the major part of campus landscape,the small gardens.We choose a sample university campus to exemplify the research,using POE methods based on the environmental behavior science.Moreover we therein polish some of the methods.
