With a more comprehensive understanding of life and health,the public assert a higher claim on the content of health care.The quality of architecture environment has become a key element of design of hospital building.Depending on the users,hospital building environment can be classified as direct environment and indirect environment.Indirect environment serving caretakers and hospital staff,who are closely related to patients,promotes the recovery of patients,even though it doesnt act directly on the patients.Nowadays,the importance of indirect environment is more prominent with more and more doctor-patient disputes.Mood swings of family members,disturbance of family members on hospital actions,psychological pressure and efficiency of hospital staff et al,are all influenced by indirect environment.These problems have a profound influence on the recovery of patients and normal operation of hospitals.In the present study,POE (post-occupancy evaluation) is employed to explore the indirect environment of hospital building.Through investigating the main psychological characteristics,behavior characteristics and activity nodes of family member,caretakers and hospital staff respectively,characteristics of indirect environment is summarized with regard to the interaction of direct and indirect environment,and an optimized strategy for indirect environment is proposed.After primary investigation,we extract general featured behaviors and investigate the relationship between these behaviors and physical elements of space.From the view of users,we explore the reasonability of indirect environment in hospital building based on the space need of users.Through POE investigation into environment of hospital architecture,we discover the importance of indirect environment in it.In the study of indirect environment,we advocate medical care and home care,utilize design to improve space quality of environment and promote recovery of patients through delivery of emotions in the end.Based on investigated data and conferences,we come up with practical strategies to existing problems in the building of indirect environment.Thanks to POE analysis,we can find the shortcoming of design and narrow the gap between design and practice.For hospital architecture which is closely connected with health,what should be done is to start from need of users and seek for the perfection of environment in architecture space in order to achieve comprehensive recovery,both physically and mentally.
