Background Oxidative stress has been linked to osteoporosis.Uric acid (UA) is a strong endogenous anitoxidant.The purpose of the study is to exam the association between serum UA levels and bone minerla density.Methods The study comprised of 1985 eligible participants aged over 45 years from the Shanghai Changfeng community.Each individual has spine and hip bone mineral density and body composition measurements by dual energy x-ray aborptiometry(GE iDXA).Multivariate linear regression was used to assess the independent relatiouships between serum uric acid and BMD.
