TMEM 16A protein is recently identified as an important component of Ca+-dependent Cl-channels (CaCCs) in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs).However, the functions of TMEM16A protein and the mechanisms responsible for regulating TMEM16A gene expression in the vessels remain largely unclear.Here we showed that myocardin activated TMEM 16A expression by forming a complex with SRF bound to the CArG of the TMEM 16A promoter in VSMCs.
