Nanowires have been used to inject in a controlled way singlet oxygen into specific parts of a single cell.The new technique is based on growth of zinc oxide nanowires on a pipettee covered with a photosensitizer.The external UV light generates an optical spectra from the zinc oxide nanowires which generates the singlet oxygen from the oxygen molecules which interact with photosensitizer.In this way we could in a controlled way inject singlet oxygen in different parts of a single cell.We studied different ptotosensitisizer and different cancer cells and normal cells.The cell necrosis/ apoptosis was studied when the ROS was injected into mitochondria and cell nucleus.We also studied the effect on the cells when partly having a mixture of the photosensitizer and ZnO nanoparticles and partly having only ZnO nanoparticles and partly only photosensitzer.
