In the late 90s, the massive availability of X-ray digital detectors supported a great development of Computer Aided Diagnosis (CADx) systems for helping radiologists in making more accurate diagnosis.Digital Pathology (DP) is now undergoing the same story enabled by the availability of ready-to-market high-resolution automated slide scanners.However, the development of CADx systems for DP is still challenging mainly due to the following reasons: i) images have considerable size ranging around 200k x 100k pixels with a typical size up to 40GB, ii) images are multi-focus and multi-spectral with RGB bands, iii) the number of potential cancer locations are about 500k per image.
