Liver cancer is the third most common cancer globally and most patients die within a year of the disease.Evidence suggests that circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are responsible for the hematogenous spread of cancer from the primary tumor to other parts of the human body.The presence of CTCs in blood of liver cancer patients is linked to tumor cell density and thus, to tumor growth.Therefore, the detection, capture and recovery of CTCs in human peripheral blood are of clinical importance in cancer diagnosis, research and treatment.
