Nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (N-doped CNTs) show tuned properties compared with CNTs especially that the chemically inert CNTs are chemically active after the doping of N atoms.Therefore, the N-doped CNTs showed great advantage in electrochemical application, side wall fictionalizations, etc.When N-doped CNTs can be vertically aligned was synthesized in a controlled manner, numerous applications, such as high active fuel cells,high current density field emission devices, and Li-ion batteries can be expected.Therefore, large scale production of aligned N-doped CNTs was required.However, the aligned N-doped CNTs were conventionally synthesized on low-surface-area substrates in a fixed bed reactor through chemical vapor deposition, and the synthesis efficiency was limited, which remains as an obstacle for the development of aligned N-doped CNTs.
