TLR agonists can induce the maturation of dendritc cells and enhance their roles in presenting tumor antigens.ProTα is a small highly acidic polypeptide of 109 amino acid residues in humans, and in melanoma and colorectal cancer patients, proTα stimulated the production of the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α, reduced the secretion of TGF-β and prostaglandin E2 and consequently normalized peripheral blood monocyte and lymphokine-activated killer cell disorders.
