Aldosterone plays a major role in maintenance of electrolytes and acid-base balances.Besides genomic action, its rapid nongenomically effects have been extensively investigated.Previous in vitro studies indicated that nongenomic action of aldosterone involves in transactivation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and increases its downstream signaling kinases, extracellular signalregulated kinases 1 and 2 (ERK1/2).Moreover, in vitro examinations demonstrated that heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) family and cytosolic tyrosine kinase of Src (c-Src), the upstream signals induced by aldosterone, play a critical role in the initiating step of the rapid stimulation on EGFR.
