Background: Nitinol stents are widely used as a palliative treatment for malignant dysphagia, but many stents become obstructed because of tumor ingrowth.A number of researchers have been working on drug-eluting stents (DESs) for benign esophageal strictures, but the antitumor effects of such DESs are limited because their drug loadings are generally too low to effectively treat rumors.
