Introduction : Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is an emerging non-invasive imaging modality that based on the measurement of ultrasonic waves induced by biological tissues absorption of short laser pulses. With combined spectral selectivity of laser light and high resolution of ultrasound detection, PAT has proven to be a promising technique for visualizing tissue structures and functions with high contrast.Nevertheless, due to the low intrinsic absorption of endogenous chromophores in the NIR region, the photoacoustic signal was relatively weak for imaging deep tissues. Therefore, employing exogenous contrast agent with high absorption in NIR region for PAT imaging enables molecular sensitivity and greatly expands the functionality of the modality.
