  Double negative materials(DNMs)which are usually observed in artificial metamaterials provide new opportunities for developing a new generation of electromagnetic materials with numerous novel effects and potential applications over a large portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.However,these metamaterials obtain their double negative property from the periodicity of artificial structures rather than directly from the intrinsic properties of materials.
