Considering coupling of flexural deformation and midplane stretching as key source of nonlinearity and taking into account transverse, axial and rotary inertia effects the equation system of motion for large-deflection beam in the lagrangian description are derived by using Hamiltons principle.The nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into an ordinary differential equation by employing the method of the traveling wave solution.The results of qualitative analysis indicate that the system has homoclinic or heteroctinic orbit under certain conditions.The exact periodic solutions of nonlinear wave equation are obtained by means of Jacobi elliptic function expansion.The solution wave solution or shock wave solution is given When the modulus of Jacobi elliptic function m → 1 in the degenerate case.
