Three-dimensional (3D) structured graphene has received great interest due to its widely promising applications in energy storage, catalysis, adsorption, and sensing. However, how to configure the 3D structured graphene via a simple method remains a challenge. Here, an one-step approach is presented for synthesizing graphene-based hollow bails supported on the carbon foam by direct carbonization of polyurethane foams impregnated in pitch and copper nitrate solution in flowing Ar at different temperatures.
