  Pyridine and poly(pyridine) derivatives have received great attention because of their unique electrical, optical, magnetic and catalytical properties, as well as their strong coordinative ability with transition metals that results in these ligands as linkers to construct metal-complexes, coordination polymers or metal-organic frameworks, and to modify surface of functional species such as fullerenes and nanomaterials.Recently, with the development of molecular assembly and nanotechnology, these metal-organic complexes have been widely used as mediators or building blocks to produce supramolecular materials and multi-functional materials.
