Bombyx batryticatus is the dried larva of Bombyx mori L.(silkworm) infected by Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill.It is a traditional Chinese medicine that was first described in an ancient Chinese medicine magnum opus named "Shennongs Classic of Materia" (written in B.C.221).It has been used for treatments to dispel flatulence, relieve fever, dissolve phlegm and relieve spasms.More modem medical studies have found new biological activity for anti-diabetes and obesity.This is the first report on its anticancer activity in vitro.
