The sclerotome is the ventromedial portion of the somite that will form vertebral cartilages.It remains uncertain how the sclerotomal cells migrate and differentiation.To investigate the migration and differentiation of the sclerotomal cells,we set to make transgenic fish that express fluorescent markers in the sclerotomal cells and their derivatives.The transcription factor Pax1 plays a dominant role in vertebral column formation.
