Dissolved air flotation (DAF) has been successfully applied as industrial wastewater treatment for many years.Recent technological improvements have expanded the applicability to the pre-treatment of wastewater.DAF as pre-treatment holds several advantages over more conventional sedimentation tanks.Firstly,DAF installations have a significantly smaller footprint.Secondly,DAF systems achieve higher removal efficiencies as not only settling particles are removed,but also substances with poor settling characteristics such as oils,greases and colloidal particles.Therefore,DAF is suitable for many wastewaters including those from the food and beverage industry and in the oil and gas industry.
