Food and beverage production plants are major waste water contributors,and additionally often have food waste.Plants producing wastewaters with a significant amount of total suspended solids and/or fats,oils and greases need to pre-treat their effluent before high rate anaerobic reactors can be applied to treat the wastewater further.This pre-treatment generally includes an undesirable addition of chemicals and generates a concentrated sludge which needs separate treatment requiring treatment.
