Congenital human cytomegalovirus(HCMV)infection is the leading cause of central nervous system mal-development in new born worldwide, but the mechanisms underlying these disorders remain to be illuminated. Our previous work has shown HCMV infection dysregulate the Notch signaling pathway in human neural progenitor cells(NPCs).Hes1,the transcriptional regulator Hairy and Enhancer of Split 1,an important downstream effector of Notch signaling governing NPC fate and fetal brain development.
