Auxin signaling is mediated by a derepression mechanism through promoting the proteasomal degradation of the AUXIN/INDOLE 3-ACETIC ACID (AUX/IAA) transcriptional repressors that directly inhibit the activity of AUXIN RESPONSE FACTORS.The degradation of AUX/IAAs is dependent on the auxin-promoted interaction of AUX/IAAs with the auxin receptor TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE1 (TIR1), an F-box E3 ubiquitin ligase, and the interaction is mediated by the highly conserved domain Ⅱ of AUX/IAAs.
