Elevated levels of serum triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) are the most common risk factors for cardiovascular disease.Numbers of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) showing significant association with TG and LDL-C levels have been identified by genome-wide association study (GWAS).Whether the results which were obtained in European apply to Chinese populations is obscure.Replicating the GWAS in Chinese populations can validate the association of SNPs with the disease and could help quickly pinpoint the risk SNP(s) in Chinese patients.
