Our previous paper demonstrated that tea-polyphenols such as (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) significantly down-regulated the nicotinic receptor expression in human cancer ceils. In this study, to prevent the worse effects of smoking-induced diseases, we propose that tea-drinking should be the best strategy for nicotine-induced worse-effects.We found that nicotinic receptor can be detected in the peripheral white blood cells, especially monocyte.Nicotinic stimulation significantly increased the uptake of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) hn monocytic cells which then induced plaque formation in the blood vessel.
