The paper presents the modeling and simulation of a novel silica gel+water chiller cycle using dielectric heating (microwave) method. In conventional adsorption chiller system, the heat transferring process is delivered by coolant heating to silica gel and it suffers from high thermal or contact resistance, leading to a low chiller COP of less than 0.4.In the proposed dielectric heating method, heat is delivered by microwaves, vibrating the dipole in the adsorbate (water molecules within the pores) and thus, rendering an efficient method of regenerating the adsorbent.
