我省原产的浙江山核桃(学名Carya cathayensis Sarg.)与美国原产的薄壳山核桃(英名Pecan,学名Carya illinaoensis Wang.K.Koch)相比较,后一种的主要优点是,干果形状大,果壳薄,种仁百分率高,种仁味道好。在本世纪初,美国薄壳山核桃种子带入我国种植,在江苏南京繁殖较多。我省和其他地方亦见种植,但大都实生树结实迟,而且结实量少,甚至不结实。考其原因,山核桃树的花虽为单性花雌雄同株,但同一品种的雌(蕊)花和雄(蕊)
