《大学英语》1989年第一期刊登了王福祯同志《谈谈疑问句连接词if和whether的异同》一文,对if和whether用法上的异同作了较详细的比较和说明,读后颇受教益,但该文有一处说明与另一处例证不一致,令读者无所适从。为此,笔者也愿谈谈自己的一点粗浅看法,以期与作者商榷,并望不吝斧正。该文在第一部分2小项(1.2)中谈到只能用whether,不可用if引导宾语从句时明确地指出,在某些动词后,如……care等,只能用whether,例证为
In the first issue of “College English” in 1989, Comrade Wang Fuzhen published the article “Talking about the similarities and differences between the if and yes of the interrogative sentences”, and made a detailed comparison and explanation of the differences and similarities between if and whether. However, there is a statement in this article that is inconsistent with another example, which makes the reader at a loss. For this reason, the writer is also willing to talk about his own superficial view, in order to discuss with the author, and hope that the ax is. In the first part of the second subsection (1.2), the article mentioned that only if or not can be used. It is not possible to use the if-directed object clause to explicitly point out that after certain verbs, such as ... care, only use whether or not.
