“人到老来真可怜,劝人莫把老人嫌。耳聋难跟人说话,两眼昏花看不清,……花开也没百日红,人生哪能尽少年?日月如梭催人老,人人都有老来难。你敬老来得子敬,屋檐滴水见旧痕……”一位白发苍苍的老婆婆,手拿小铜锣,微闭着双眼,端坐竹椅上,尽情地吟唱《劝人莫把老人嫌》山歌。几十位农村妇女“携婆带媳”静静地听着言真意切的山歌,受了委屈的老人感慨地说:人老了,眼不明、耳不灵,生活就是苦哇!而年轻的媳妇们则设身处地说:老人难啊!我们应该尽孝,何况以后我们也会老……。这是近期发生在山歌之乡——江西兴国县长冈乡上社村的一幕;而传唱敬老山歌的老婆婆便是全国有名的红军女歌手——谢水莲。

This is a scene that took place recently in the hometown of folk songs - Shangshecun, Changgang Township, Xingguo County, Jiangxi Province; and the old lady who sung the honorific folk songs is the famous red female singer - Xie Shui Lin.
