Objective To investigate the feasibility of xenobium (pig) skin as a covering for skin graft. Methods Ten patients with deep and large area burn were selected. One day before eschar excision and skin grafting, a white pig weighing about 50 kg was sacrificed and washed, shaved and disinfected. Two small fat-containing skin pieces were cut with Drum take-off machine into full thickness or thick skin. The first sowing self-particle skin, and then the pigskin punch covering the pressure bandage. Postoperative pig skin excision and microsurgery were observed, as well as wound healing time and functional recovery of patients after 1 year. Results The pigs were intact 2 weeks after operation and glued well with the wounds. The pigs were dry scabs 4 to 5 weeks after operation and gradually separated from the microspheres. The microscopic skin had been fused and the wound surface healed basically. After 6 to 8 weeks Skin all off, wound healing. The wound healing time was 10 days in 42 to 56 days [(50 ± 5) days]. Although there was a superficial scar in one year after operation, its elasticity and function returned to normal. Conclusion pig skin instead of allogenic skin covered autologous skin repair deep burn wounds feasible.
