一、芷江柿树栽培的历史柿树适应性广,管理容易,结果较早,收益期长,丰产稳产。芷江栽培柿树已有相当长的历史。民间中常有对柿树的流传,如水宽乡柿子湾过去是一片密集的柿林,后人就定名柿子湾,现在这里仍有百年以上的柿树。碧涌、楠木坪等地的侗族群众至今仍保持着以柿干待客的遗俗。
