中棉12号,是一个抗病、高产、品质较好、适应性较广的棉花新品种。长期以来,抗病性与丰产性、纤维品质三者存在负相关,中棉12则这三个性状初步协调,特别是抗病与丰产性得到同步提高。已经全国棉花抗病品种区域试验通过,推荐在黄河、长江流域枯黄萎病区推广,河南、山东、山西三省农作物品种审定委员会已审定在病区推广。河北、陕西等省正在试验和计划认定。湖北、安徽、江苏、浙江、四川等省亦在大面积试种。1987年该品种经受了枯黄萎病大暴发和大旱雨涝的考验,均表现增产。
