現行的冰花测量仪的型式是以測定水样中冰花体積为基礎的,其方法为从水样中濾出水后直接測量冰花的体積。因为用此法时,冰花的孔隙中仍存有水,所以測量誤差可达20%或更大。在我們建議的,以計算水样体積的测定为基礎的仪器中,由于冰花融化于水样內,因而消除了这个缺点,因为河冰的密度等于0.92,所以把水样加热使冰花融解后,水样的体積就会縮小,
