严复(1854-1921年),福建侯官(今福州)人,乳名体乾,谱名传初;后改名宗光,字又陵;入仕后又改名复,字几道。笔名有天演宗哲学家、尊疑、尺盦、辅自然斋主人、观我生室主人等,晚自号瘉老人,籍称严侯官。曾担任福州船政学堂教习、北洋水师学堂总办、京师大学堂附设译书局总办、上海复旦公学校长、安庆高等师范学堂校长、清朝学部名词馆总编辑、北京大学首任校长等职。是中国近代史上著名的启蒙思想家、翻译家和
